Four months into the year and 2015 seems like a distant memory. We have already had so many great networking opportunities to look back on, including the recent launch and success of TBN Solent on the 15th April. There is, therefore, plenty of positive business activity to ease the mind and we hope to have refreshed your outlook with our efforts to enhance the local and dynamic business community. The Boardroom Network would also like to draw attention to news which could have a major positive impact on the area, promoting progress and future growth.
Recently a gathering of local business leaders at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium outlined a number of key priorities for the economic growth of Dorset in the next 10 years. Some excellent ideas that were generated include better infrastructure, a road link north to the M4 via Wiltshire, better rail services, and unified tourism marketing for the county. Having spoken with businesses in almost every sector, at TBN we know that implementing these suggestions would support economic growth, raise employment levels and further promote regional business development.
The meeting also intensified calls to develop sought-after skills among school leavers, increasing the pace of super fast broadband roll-out across the county, and a need to better capitalise on the digital boom. TBN knows that these business community voices will help push for change, increasing Dorset’s productivity, competitiveness and accessibility. Our members will understand the benefits of putting Dorset at the forefront of innovation, enabling growth and ensuring a wider range of opportunities for both businesses and employees.
Something which local businesses will also not have failed to notice is the imminent EU Referendum. Taking place on 23 June it will decide the question of whether Britain should leave or remain in the European Union. With a wide range of arguments for and against we are seeking more information on local business opinion. We are also encouraging our members to engage in healthy discussions on the topic at all our upcoming business clubs. We know this will be a great way to generate conversation and help us to analysis the possible impact of a Brexit on future business growth in Dorset and Hampshire.
